Cat’s Meow Village wooden collectible featuring the Platypus Family’s Mound of Dirt Home, located between the Museum‑Go‑Round and Daniel’s Clock in the Neighborhood of Make‑Believe.
Dr. Bill Platypus studied in Australia and serves as the Neighborhood doctor for people, animals, and pets — with his office located inside Grandpère’s Eiffel Tower. He’s also a masterful bagpipe player! His wife, Elsie Jean Platypus, is gentle and motherly, and their daughter Ana attends the Neighborhood School at Some Place Else with Daniel Tiger and Prince Tuesday. Ana loves drawing and animals of all kinds.
Dr. Bill and Elsie Jean were named after Fred Rogers’ dear friends, Rev. Bill Barker and his wife, Elsie Jean — and Rev. Bill performed both the voice and puppetry for these characters.
Handcrafted from 3/4" thick wood in the Wooster, Ohio workshop — just 130 miles west of Pittsburgh, where Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was filmed at WQED from 1968–2001.
Look closely — Casper the black cat is listening for the sound of Dr. Bill’s bagpipes. Music to his ears!
