Cat’s Meow Village wooden collectible featuring the Sanibel Strong Lighthouse, honoring the community’s resilience after Hurricane Ian. The original Sanibel Lighthouse was funded in 1883 with a $50,000 Congressional grant — but just two miles from its destination, the ship carrying the iron tower sank. Most of the pieces were recovered, and the lighthouse was successfully constructed and lit on August 20, 1884.
The Coast Guard electrified the light in 1962, and today the lighthouse belongs to the City of Sanibel.
This “Sanibel Strong” edition celebrates the island’s strength, recovery, and spirit. Handcrafted from 3/4" thick wood in the Wooster, Ohio workshop, it features a detailed front design and a printed story on the back.
Look closely — Casper the black cat is tucked into the scene, keeping watch over the shoreline.
