Cat’s Meow Village wooden collectible featuring Daniel S. Tiger’s Cuckoo Clock from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Handcrafted from 3/4" thick wood in the Wooster, Ohio workshop — just 130 miles west of Pittsburgh, where the show was filmed at WQED from 1968–2001.
The back tells the story of Daniel Striped Tiger’s origin: In 1954, Fred Rogers was preparing a cuckoo clock segment for The Children’s Corner. A bird was supposed to pop out — until WQED station manager Dorothy Daniel gifted Fred a striped tiger puppet the night before. Fred used the tiger instead, naming him “Daniel” in her honor. Joanne Rogers later said, “He did all the voices. But Daniel was the real Fred.”
Today, Daniel S. Tiger’s legacy continues through his animated son, Daniel Tiger, beloved by preschoolers since 2012. Please following the link below for the CMV animated series pieces.
Handcrafted from 3/4" thick wood with colorful detailing and a printed story on the back. Look closely — Casper the black cat is snuggled at the foot of Daniel’s clock, the signature mark of an authentic Cat’s Meow Village piece.
Each piece features a colorful illustrated front and a short description on the back. Designed by artist Faline Fry Jones, these pieces sit neatly on shelves, window trim, wainscoting, or display ledges
